On Mother’s Day weekend, local nonprofit Postpartum Support Charleston invites the community to join us in supporting moms suffering from postpartum depression and anxiety. The annual Moms’ Run -- Postpartum Support Charleston’s largest fundraiser -- is a 5K run AND walk open to all ages followed by free activities for families. Participants and their families can arrive at 7 a.m. for pre-race Family Fun Day festivities.
Open exclusively to 5K walkers of all ages and those runners and walkers wishing to participate while pushing a baby jogger or baby stroller. The Gasparilla Distance Classic Association continues to encourage Healthy Living for the entire family, and invite families and parents with little ones to come out, run or walk and enjoy an event created especially for them.
Held on Super Bowl Sunday every year this family friendly event is part of the Redondo Beach 10K, and marked its 40th anniversary in 2018. According to Runner’s World, the course is perfectly suited for strollers, with flat, wide stretches, road sections that are closed to traffic, and views of the Pacific Ocean, as well as local landmarks like the Redondo Beach Historic Pier and the Wyland whale mural. Your entry fee includes two beers in the post race beer garden.

You’ll see dozens of homes with over-the-top tacky lights in the Walton Park neighborhood, including the famous Dawnridge Ct. Strollers are welcome at the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon, an annual race that takes place in the Queen City every November. The event features five different races including a marathon, half-marathon, marathon relay, 5K, and kid’s 1-mile run. The race starts in the heart of Uptown Charlotte at Romare Bearden Park and follows the course through Charlotte’s signature tree lined streets, with mild November temperatures averaging in the 50’s.

New this year – the inaugural End Childhood Cancer Walk/Run, formerly known as The Lemon Run, is making its way to the historic Philadelphia Navy Yard. Starting and ending at the Marine Parade Grounds, walkers and runners of all ages can enjoy scenic views all along the Delaware River while they raise money and awareness to end childhood cancer. Walkers will have the choice of a one-mile course or the standard 5k, and runners will run the 5k route!

This half marathon has made it to multiple lists including Runner’s World’s “Best Races to Run with a Jogging Stroller’ and The Daily Burn’s ‘5o Best Half Marathons’. Among many reasons to run this race are its location in the breathtakingly beautiful New Mexico desert, no grueling hills to climb and the 1,000-foot elevation drop which helps when pushing a jogging stroller, free race photos, a finish medal for passengers and the fact that the race supports the nonprofit Global Running Culture benefitting communities where running is a core part of the indigenous culture.
